Frontier Energy is one of the leading developers and investors in renewable energy in Sub-Saharan Africa, through two investment funds, registered in Denmark:
- DI Frontier Market Energy & Carbon Fund started in 2011 with 70m USD in capital
- Frontier Energy II started in 2017 with 227m USD in capital.
The investment funds are managed by Frontier Investment Management, a Danish registered alternative investment fund manager, with offices in Copenhagen and an advisor subsidiary office in Nairobi, Kenya.
The group is an active investor with a large diversified team for handling investments, development, construction, and operation of renewable energy assets. High ESG standards and high impact is an underlying principle across all activities, from the local communities around our assets, over the countries in Sub-Sarhan Africa we operate in, to the global scale through the reduction of carbon emissions from our activities.
Investors in the Frontier Energy funds counts most of the European Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and a good selection of private investors, with about 50% of the capital from private investors and 50% from DFIs.
